Why would you read … that?

Christmas 2020 brought an unintentional present, the idea for a podcast, and Conquering Classics was born. Fueled by a mother-daughter relationship and mutual desire to read and discuss books, Cindy and Stacey have decided to conquer the classics that have been taking up precious bookshelf space.

In each set of episodes, we take apart one section of the classic of choice, talking about the plot, characters and our thoughts on the story so far. We promise to read each book to the fullest, regardless of how we feel during the process.

Join us as we conquer these classic stories and talk about why, and if, they have stood the test of time.

Cindy Schriber, Mother Dearest to her children, lives and breathes books. Not only does she work as a law librarian by day, but she also raised her children to love the written word. Maybe taught them a little too well, because now she is making a podcast about reading classics with her eldest daughter. When not thinking about books, she manages to excel at making delicious food and going on bike adventures with her husband. Her favorite author is Nevil Shute, and her favorite book beverage is a hot cup of coffee (or beer depending on the time of day).

Stacey Schriber, is the best first daughter a Mom could ever have. Also known as Stace, (and a few other names, not to be divulged) Stacey was raised to enjoy the art of reading books. At times, the enjoyment can be detrimental; how many parents have punished their children FROM reading? That’s our Stace! Her favorite card in her wallet is the Library Card, and wherever she’s living, that’s the first card she goes to get. When not reading, Stacey is a fundraiser. But she’d really rather be reading. Her favorite author is Neil Gaiman, and her favorite book beverage is a hot pot of tea (or cold beer depending on the season).
